Welcome to Betta Fish Keepers!

I hope to gather together a nice group and share information about proper care and to raise awareness about how these fish are mistreated.

Submissions to the group are very welcome as are members whether or not you keep bettas,

Submissions:
- Photos of bettas housed improperly will not be permitted. The only exception for this will be photos taken when you first get your new fish home.
- All mediums are welcome.
- We do not support nor encourage fighting fish.

Co-founder:
I am looking for a co-founder. If you are interested, please let me know.

About me:
I am a 24 year old writer/stay at home mom. I write novels, short stories, and poems. I recently have taken up photography. Still new to it, but I have managed to get a few nice pictures.
I keep bettas and will be breeding them in July (hopefully). At the moment, I have 7 that are "breeding quality" and one that is only a pet. I am getting more on the 1st.

About my bettas and tanks:
Leonidas - My black dragon with red wash (anal fin) halfmoon dragon male. He is in a divided 10 gallon heated and filtered tank with his two brothers. Superb bubble nest builder.
Egil - Named after a Viking. He is a red dragon halfmoon male. In the middle section of a divided 10 gallon heated and filtered tank with his two brothers. Loves to dance for me.
Odin - Named after the Norse God. He is a black dragon halfmoon male. Lives in a divided 10 gallon heated and filtered tank with his two brothers. Onlike his two brothers, his dragon scaling is complete. So much so that it has covered his eyes partially. Due to his diminished sight, I have trained him to go to a particular corner for food.
Freydis - Named for a female Viking. Queen of my sorority. A black dragon halfmoon female. In a 10 gallon heated and filtered sorority with her two sisters (Lolth and Eva). She is now my biggest female. She looks rather cute when she flares.
Lolth - named after the Drow goddess. A copper marble black dragon halfmoon female. She was the largest when they arrived from the breeder. She likes to lurk in the darkness of a barrel decoration.
Eva - The smallest of the three sisters. A black marble dragon halfmoon female. She has marbled since arriving here. Always the first for food. She likes to lay on the bare gravel to sleep.
All of the above are siblings from the same spawn and carry the plakat gene.
Gwynfor - Named after a favorite character of mine it is "white lord of ecstasy and death". He is a blue grizzled dragon plakat. Lives in a 5 gallon heated and filtered tank all on his own. He seems to enjoy it. He was very small when I got him and was thought to be female because he was clamped. In nice warm water, he un-clamped and showed himself to be male.

So, welcome again. Feel free to introduce yourself and your finned friends!
